Certification Requirements

Teacher Licensure Needed:  Yes

Master’s Degree Needed: Yes

Praxis II Library Media Content Test Needed: Yes, passing score is 151.

Other Testing Needed: Yes, all K-12 certificates need to pass one of the Principles of Learning.

Description: Library Media certification is considered an instructional support area for grades K-12.

Evaluation Process for Licensure 

Criteria for eligible individuals:

  • Master’s degree
  • Completion of an approved program for school library media.

Reciprocity:  Applicants with a valid, standard certificate issued by another state, the District of Columbia, a United States territory, or the Department of Defense Dependents Schools (DoDDS), may be eligible for certification through South Carolina’s reciprocity agreement. http://ed.sc.gov/educators/teaching-in-south-carolina/out-of-state-teachers/reciprocity-programs/
